Bass fishing has been around for a long time, but there are still plenty of new things that we can learn to better catch these fish. Sometimes, changing things up and trying something new is all it takes to take a slow day of fishing into a great one. Here are a few different bass fishing tips that you may or may not have heard of before, but that can help you out on your next fishing trip!
Hook a Worm AND a Minnow
First, hook a live worm through the center “wacky” style. Now, take the hook and put it one a minnow. The worm should then be on either side of the minnow. What is the point of this you might ask? This setup, while it may take a little longer to set up, creates the illusion to bass that the minnow is feeding on the worm. The bass will instinctively go to investigate, and cannot refuse the offer of grabbing two meals for the price of one.
Use Live Bait and Two Rods
This simple trick involves rigging up some sort of live bait, whether it is a worm, crawfish, or other small baitfish. Put it underneath a bobber, and cast it out to where you suspect the bass are hiding. Now take your other rod, and rig up a jig, crankbait, or spinner to the end and cast it out past your bobber. Reel it in as fast as you can, right past the bobber. This method will trick finicky bass to think that another predator is going after the bait, and they will finally move in to get it before risking another predator taking it from them. This can be a great method to use when you know where the bass are but they refuse to strike any of your lures!

Use Two Lures on One Line
When fishing in thick weeds or vegetation, it is not uncommon for the bass to miss your lure. To combat this, try rigging up two different lures onto the same line. You can experiment with the amount of line in between them, but this simple method can entice bass to not only hit your lure (similar to the previous tip) but will also ensure that they will not miss the second lure as it goes by them if they missed the first one. This also allows you to use two different lures in the water, so you can more easily see what they are responding to as far as lures and colors go and switch up your tactics accordingly!
