How to Keep Treble Hooks Out of Everything

One of the worst things when it comes to fishing lures is trying to keep your treble hooks from getting caught onto anything and everything. We have all been there, you reach into your tackle box to pull out a favorite crankbait, and it ends up coming out with a string of multiple different lures. Luckily there are a few different ways to avoid getting your treble hooks from getting into everything!

Rubber Bands

One quick and simple way to keep your treble hooks out of everything is to take a rubber band and put it around both hooks on a lure so that they are towards each other and up against the body of the lure. While this isn’t a perfect solution because technically the points are still exposed and can still tangle a little bit, it does help to keep them from going everywhere and getting caught up on anything. It is also a very cheap and easy solution without costing too much time or money to do.

Safety Caps

One of the best ways to keep your treble hooks from getting into everything is some simple treble hook safety caps. These small caps go directly onto the hooks and won’t allow them to get tangled up with anything else or poke you as you dig through your tackle box. This will also allow you to put multiple baits and lures together and not have them so divided in your tackle box. This not only saves you space but keeps your gear more organized and accessible.

Cal Coast Fishing Bait Sacks

The last idea to keep your treble hooks in order is a product called the fishing bait sack. These little bags clip onto your rod and then pinch together at the top to slide your bait into. This keeps your treble hooks out of the way and fully protected no matter where you are or what you are doing. When you are ready to use it, simply pinch the top of the bait sack, pull out your lure, and start fishing. The only downside to this system is that it will only manage the hooks on a lure you are using, and not the ones in your tackle box unless you get multiple bags and store them all inside of their own separate pouches.

Final Thoughts

We all know how frustrating it can be to untangle a treble hook or even get poked by one as you reach into your tackle box. Luckily these three methods can be used to help mitigate this problem and keep you fishing longer!
