Look at plenty of photos and videos, and talk to anyone you can that has experience in the subject. This will help you be much more prepared when the hunt actually comes.
When it comes to looking at bears, take note of their legs. If they appear long when compared to their body, it is probably a young bear. Another thing you can reference is their ears. If the ears are on the top of his head and look large when compared to his body, he is probably a younger bear. A big, mature bear will have small ears in relation to his head, as well as a big belly that almost seems to touch the ground.
Work Hard and Cover Country
Grizzly bears live in some of the most beautiful country that this world has to offer. This wilderness, however, is often extremely rugged and very remote. You must be prepared mentally and physically for the challenges that the landscape will provide. In addition, grizzlies will cover a large area to call home, so you have to look at and travel as much of it as you can in order to find them. The more country you can cover, the more grizzlies that you will be able to look over.
Safety First
Last but not least, always have safety in mind when hunting these animals. Pack the proper gear that you will need for any situation you might encounter in grizzly country, especially random storms that might roll in out of nowhere. Consider bringing along bear spray or a sidearm, and always be aware of your surroundings at all times. While attacks from these animals are rare, the last thing you want to do is let your guard down while in grizzly country. On that note, be very careful around any other kills such as deer, moose, or caribou while in grizzly country!
